Sienna's teacher asked their class what they wish for for Christmas and her are some of the responses. I wanted to buy these for Christmas but since I ate so many during Halloween time I JUST CAN'T JUSTIFY IT.
Movember was exciting and hairy at our house.

We made Christmas cookies for the neighbors but we ate most of them so I guess we will just need to do it again. I love sugar cookies my mom always made them growing up. I was so proud of my self for making sugar cookies with my kids from scratch and not burning them. It was so much fun to listen to Christmas music and make cookies. Poor Danny has been so busy with this big test before we leave for Disney World. We love you Danny-kins thanks for working so hard for our family.

Scarlett ate her first food the other day rice cereal and she is getting so big. She has two teeth now so nursing isn't much fun.:( hopefully she will like eating food more and so far she loves it!
We decorated for Christmas on Sunday and then when it was bath time I turned off all the lights and had just the christmas light on they LOVED it!
Poor Scarlett has Pneumonia and it was really scary because as soon as the x ray came up I saw a big white blob just like on Dan's scan so luckily I was able to get a hold of the doctor immediately and she allied me right back and told us it was just Pneumonia. thank goodness now it's time to get this little girl ready for the happiest place on earth to see Mini Mouse!

This is the birth announcement that we did for our Sweet baby girl who is so kind and the love of our lives. Everyone enjoys this sweet girl so much. We are so glad to have her as an addition to our family. She is now six months old and growing like a weed she is off the charts for height and 98% for weight. She is such a good eater and we are really happy about that!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had a great time with friends from Dental school. they food was amazing. i got to take an early morning nap too. Then the kids and I watched the parade while Dan cooked! it was my favorite Thanksgiving by far. This is the banner I made for the big day.

Sienna loves doing art projects, she is painting her and loving every minute of it. She is s funny girl she is very very messy but hates being dirty and loves to clean up. She cracks me up. She is always singing she takes after me I guess.These are some of Sienna's friends after school. She looks forward to school every time she goes.
This is an old picture that I never posted right before I went into the hospital to have Scarlett. Life has changed a lot with three but we are so happy in our nest with our new little bird.
Dan took Sienna to the zoo one afternoon to see the new baby elephant! How cute is this picture.
I put sponge curlers in Sienna's hair for Church the next day and cried as soon as I was done. I am so happy to have a daughter and I also feel so old when did this happen!
We had pumpkin pancakes and of course they were shaped like Mickey mouse we can't wait to go to the happiest place on earth Disney World for Christmas!
Dan got to visit his parents in Chicago, they were there for a dental trip so he took them to the Bongo room and they ate this without me, I need to go there soon. Maack is almost never here he goes to school at 8:15 and gets home at 4:25 and we do home work have dinner bath and bed. I miss my boy but he is a t really great school and loves it there. he is learning Spanish and enjoys Art and Reading.
I was nursing Scarlett and Sienna came in and told me she made me a present a neck O lace and ring ears. I started crying she is so thoughtful and caring and loves everything girlie. If we survive three I will really enjoy her next year.
So that a little bit of what's going on here just surviving with three kids and Dental school the second year is a lot harder than the first. wish us luck!

Halloween Halloween strangest night I've ever seen, Halloween Halloween, WHAT will you all be what will you all be? That was the song that our music teacher used to sing to us in elementary school so naturally all of my siblings now sing it the whole month of October. Happy Halloweenie!

Princess Sienna loved running on stage and singing to every one. Sienna had an adorable Tinker Bell costume with shoes and everything but she saw this costume at the store and begged to put it on and then insisted that she wear the pink princess costume on halloween and at Disney land too. Maybe she will wear the tinker bell costume to Disney World next month we will just have to see. The best part about this princess costume is that it's a size 6 to 9 months, my sisters about died when they saw what size it was, hahaha.

This is from Maack's first day of school he now goes to school all day. He loves it and loves riding the bus too. They feed him breakfast and lunch there which is great since meal time is a bit of a struggle in our house. I can't believe how big Maack is getting he can get dressed and brush this teeth and do his hair all by himself. Sienna dressed herself and got her back pack ready too the night before for Maack's school she really wanted to go with him. Here are all the neighbor hood kids lined up ready for the bus.

Sienna had a great birthday we decided to take the money we would have used to throw a party and do fun things with it instead which was a lot less stressful for me which is nice for everyone. I took Sienna to build a bear and she picked out her very own bear. It's not what I would have picked but she loves her rainbow bear and she's happy.
Maack has played her many times so he was very helpful to his little sister showing her what to do but never getting in the way or taking over.
Sienna got to put a noise in the bear and it giggles she named him rainbow bear.
She was about to tell me she is now three. I can't believe how fast that went.
We went as a family to chuck E Cheese's.
We let her blow out her candle probably ten times. She had so much fun doing this.

She LOVES kitties so much and that's her nick name from me too so we got a kitty cake for her big day.

We had these amazing chocolate croissants for her birthday breakfast.

I loved her dress, I thought the train should have been longer though. I got up before 5 a.m. with a cold and pregnant and watched this amazing event with my sister Abbey, Yes I cried. Even though i have been married for almost eight years and have three 2.5 kids I some how feel like I let my mom down a little bit for not marrying the prince. sorry mom.

The dr. called me the other day while I was at the gym and said we got your test results back and they weren't normal can you come in? That is such a scary thing to hear. I dropped my kids off with my girl friend and went straight there. It was a really long 30 minute drive. I got in to see my dr. and he told me I have something that is called CMV. I had no idea what he was talking about. He told me most people get it like the flu or chicken pox and have subtle symptoms and it can affect others more strongly but, that it can be dangerous during pregnancy. I was still listening and then he said the words stillborn and congenital heart failure and then I stopped listening after that only dogs and cats could hear me. It has been a hard week with Dan's chemo and school tests. Maack got punched in the face on the bus and Sienna had to go to the dr.'s for a bladder infection not to mention I was in the hospital for tests because I thought I had a really bad case of the flu. I just want to lock the doors and not let any of my family leave right now.

We went in for the high risk ultra sound this morning at 7:30 and after going to the wrong hospital and then to another and having to wait forever we had our ultra sound and everything looks okay I am measuring three weeks ahead of schedule so we will see about that. I'm relieved about the ultra sound but we still don't really know if anything is going to be wrong or not but so far it looks good and we have faith that things will work out. When the baby is born we will check to see if it is deaf. I guess it's a good thing my major was deaf education. Dan missed his early morning chemo appointment but was able to get in at a later time. It just feels like it's not our year. After today we will wait three more weeks and then Dan will be scanned to see if the chemo got the cancer or if it has spread so that's coming up and I'm not looking forward to it. Then he have finals and then a new baby. I guess it will at least keep us busy which is great but man I'm so drained I know I'm going to look back on this and just think oh my goodness that was crazy, how did I do it. I know I'm not alone. Everyday someone is with me helping me get out of bed or do the dishes or just breath. and I am so grateful for my Heavenly Fathers love and support during this time. I am so grateful for the gift of the holly ghost in my life. It has been such a help to know that my family is sealed together forever and that this time here on earth is short. I am so lucky to be married to a man that can have his face bitten off and then come and hug me and help with chores when he doesn't feel good either. I am such a luck woman. I LOVE you Danny!

It was just last year that we found out we would be moving to good old Indiana. So naturally I began blog stocking people who lived here to see who lives here and the fun things there are to do. I'm not sure if this is entirely normal but whatever.So if you are coming here top Indiana and are kind of freaked out about picking out a house on the internet and moving to the midwest please feel free to contact me and I will help give you as much info as you would like. We can't wait to meet next years new batch of dental students. I can't believe how fast this year has gone by.

Sienna and I went to visit with Dan while he was doing his chemo. I am very glad for modern medicine but man I can't wait for chemo to be done!

Jungle Jim's the BIGGEST grocery store

They won an award for their bathrooms it looks like you are going into a port a potty and then you go into this huge bathroom it's actually kind of weird for a second.
They have cheeses from all over the world.
This ugli fruit tasted like and orange and a tangerine mixed it was really yummy.
Maack and his love for Mushrooms.
This was an actual boat with the general mills characters singing on it the kids loved this.
The produce was exotic and amazing like a farmer's market I wish we lived closer.
We had so much fun showing the kids strange fruits and vegetable from all over the world that we had never even heard of before.

Dan loved finding things from Brazil and equator and honduras and showing us.

The colors were so vibrant and this produce has traveled a long way to get there.
This was the biggest lobster any one of us has ever seen Maack wasn't so excited about it as you can see.
I think they weighed more than Sienna. This store also has it's own hatchery.
There were people all over the store selling their own family recipes which was really fun. We spent probably four hours there that day and could have stayed longer we had so much fun walking around and seeing what all the different countries had to offer. If you come to Indiana this is a must place to go and visit.

Dan and Sienna really bonded this trip here she is trying to eat her hello kitty marsh mellow treat. Lunch was also amazing they had a great deli with some of the best clam chowder that I have had since We went to Monterey bay in California.

The great wolf lodge

For my birthday and spring break we went to Cincinnati Ohio to the Great Wolf Lodge. We had a blast It was a much needed trip for us. Dan wasn't able to be here on my actual birthday because his sweet Grandma Bo died so he went to Washington for her funeral. I was very sick while he was gone i get really bad heart burn and I had forgotten to take my medication one day so it took two days for it to start working again and I was barfing the whole time. my dear friend Michele came and saved the day she took my kids all day and brought me lots of meds and fun birthday treats too like balloons, flowers, magazines, ice cream and more. Michele you are such a great friend and I love you so much thank you for making my 29th bearable.

We had so much fun at the great wolf lodge. They give you wrist bands so you wont lose your room key and it also gets you into the water park which is inside the resort. This vacation is a perfect place for a very pregnant mom who gets tired easily and wants to go back to her room and lie down or a dad who has cancer and has had enough fun for one day. If you forget something your room is so close it's wonderful.

Here I am eating my birthday cake, something I clearly shouldn't be doing but oh well.

They have an animatronics show at night time for the kids along with story time. They also have magic wands that you can buy and go on a treasure hunt all over the hotel. We decided to skip that part since we were busy the whole time at the water park and the kids didn't really notice.
The kids loved playing with this light game where you kick the balls on the ground. There was also a game arcade and movies every night for families to go to.
Everyone loved this show.

Sienna kept wanting to go up to the front and hug Violet.
We got upgraded to a bigger room which was nice it was also closer to everything. In the rooms they have a separate open cave room with bunk beds. It also comes with a tv and video games for kids. My kids loved the bunk beds!

The park was really fun and they even had a section for kids Sienna age which was nice.

This is Sienna's new dress that my mom made her. Sienna calls it her Cinderella dress and she loves it. I remember having dresses that I lived in as a kid I think this will be one of those dresses for Sienna. She also says she's a bunny with the head band on. Thanks Mema for the dress!My mother in law sent Sienna and I aprons for my birthday and they are adorable! Sienna loves cooking with me and has to help every time She enjoys making eggs the most.
We love going to the children's museum it's one of my favorite things about Indiana. They recently got Bumble bee from the movie and it is in the lobby we went for the unveiling and we all had a great time.
One night we went to the mall with my girl friend Michele and her kids and she was letting her kids jump on this bounce thing. The kids had a blast. We walk by it all the time, they thought it was their birthday well Sienna did.

This is one of my favorite stories about Maack. Dan picked him up from primary and Dan asked "what was your lesson on today" Maack responded "it was on repentance, I even drew you a picture". "Oh what is it?" asked Dan. Maack replies "it's a fart in a jar dad". Here it is Maack's picture of something he should repent of, putting a fart in a jar. I might frame this for his room.

Sienna

Sienna is such a handful especially now that she is almost three. I remember saying when Maack was three that I could have given him away for a full year and been just fine with him being gone. I love him so much now and I think that hard year made us closer so I am just trying to hang in there with Sienna right now even though she isn't yet three. She is very spunky and determined which are great qualities but It's very hard to be patient with her every hour of the day.
This is her new red bow that I finally got around to making her.
I miss this baby!
My kids are not normal at all, but I'm okay with that.
We curled Sienna's hair and she loves getting her hair done she says she looks like Rapunzel.
We have been potty training and by this picture you can just guess how well that has been going.
Here is Sienna dressed up as a unicorn at our friends house. She loves dressing up but mostly as spider man and I think it's just because she loves Maack so very much. I love Sienna she keeps things interesting and some days I feel like I am looking into a mirror.

We had a few ice storms this year and here is a picture of some branches that I took while in my car.
I don't remember exactly how many weeks I am but here's another picture of the growing bump.

I went out to dinner with some of the girls for my birthday. We had fun like always.

I think I am 28 weeks pregnant in this picture here some one said with the back round I look like I am at glamor shots. I though that was hilarious can you image going into glamor shots for your pregnancy photos. It's at the children's museum by the way.
My two best friends helped me celebrate early so we went to cafe Patachue and then to the flying cup cake. It was delicious. Love you Jenna and Michele. Thank you both for making my day special.

Happy Valentines day

I bought these roses and they made me happy all week aren't they beautiful. I love having flowers in my home.
My adorable sister inlaw Erika and her family sent us a valentines package with sweet sayings on them and fun treats. Tha Earlier my other adorable sister inlaw Annette sent us a really fun Valentines package with decorations treats towels and fun goodies. Thanks girls I love Valentines day.
Maack can't ever just take a normal picture but I guess it's his age.
Never a dull moment here at the Henricksen home.

I had an ob appointment early on Valentines day and my good friend Michele helped watch my kids and take Maack to school. Sienna was being a nightmare because she needed a nap. I meet michele at the store and she was making a really cute valentines meal and decorations for her family and just started putting stuff in my cart. It was just one of those days where i needed to be dragged some where and told what to do some times with everything it's just hard being mom and doing all of these fun mom things for my cute family that deserves it with everything that is going on right now. My little family was over the moon about it and couldn't wait to eat at the fun decorated table. Thank you to my dear friend Michele I will never forget your help during this time. I love you. I hope you all had a wonderful Valentines day.

Today is Dan's first day of chemo therapy. He will do an eight hour session this time and then in about a week or so he will go in for one hour. I put this picture up not because I feel like wonder woman but, because I need to be like her. I wish I could be there for him today just sitting and laughing or reading by his side but, since they do radiation in the same building I am not allowed in with my growing baby belly. Today I am a little resentful of my teeny tiny baby. We have no idea how he is going to react to this type of chemo I just hope it kicks his cancers ass. I am still in the one day at a time phase but the thought of having this behind us well I can't even imagine it yet I can only image going back to our old life the way things used to be before the big C. When we used to fight about who will put the kids to bed and take out the trash. Dan will get steroids to help with the nausea. The nurse told him that if he becomes psychotic that he should stop taking them. I have used that word to describe my children at the end of a hectic day but obviously out of context. I had to ask Danny what psychotic actually means. He told me I should probably be worried if he punches me in the pregnancy belly, there was a pause and then we both just erupted laughing. I have faith that we will make it through this better stronger people. That is my hope anyway for now I just feel bruised and tired. I love this man more than I even know and the thought of him not being her well the thought is too great. I just hope that his body can fight off the cancer and be stronger than ever. I LOVE YOU MR. HENRICKSEN! Good luck today Boo.

Today we are stuck inside because of the ice storm so we made Mickey mouse blueberry pan cakes. The kids loved it this wasn't the best picture but I swear I am going to take photography classes soon.

We would be in Berkley shopping and it would be one of those one of a kind things and I would show it to my mom and she would almost always say "oh I can make that", It drove me nuts and now I do it! My sister knows what I am talking about and even though I don't think that I can make these adorable shoes I bet my mom could! ugh I can't believe I do it too now. Abbey comes to visit

My sister Abbey braved the cold and flew out here to visit us. We have so much fun when we are together we are almost always thinking the same thing and just laughing.

We did lots of fun things while she was here; we shopped, decorated Sienna's room,went for a ten mile run [well,Abbey did I just walked mostly] We went to the children's museum and ate really yummy food! We love having Abbey here to visit. I love that she loves my kids as if they were her own and I love sharing that with her when she visits.

Sienna loved punching the ticket for the train ride at the children's museum, It is so fun to visit. The children's museum is a favorite place of ours to take our friends and family when they come to visit us. The museum is the biggest Children's museum in the world and I will miss it when we move.

There is amazing are to sit and look at and the kids can make their own creations too.

The BARBIE exhibit! I died when we first came here and I saw this place an entire Barbie area and they have a cat walk and music playing and of course I dressed up and did my hair and Dan took pictures of my being awesome. It was now Abbey's turn. Maack and Sienna love taking pictures and using the turn tables.

When my inlaws were here for Christmas my mother inlaw asked if I would mind if she helped me clean out my pantry and organize it? I of course shouted for joy and immediately said yes! I am not the proud owner of a very organized pantry and we have three times the dinner options that we did before. Thank you mama Jojo for sharing your wonderful organizations skills. Sometimes I will just go and stand in there because it feels good to stand next to order even if it is just a small closet space in my home. It's funny what you live with being undone and not completed in your home that can make the biggest difference. Now go Organize something!

Families are forever

I love my family and I am thrilled to be adding a third. Sometimes during dinner or bed time when my kids are being crazy and Dan has to go study and the baby starts doing flips I have to take a second and breath But, I am starting to become more grateful that pregnancy lasts nine month (I never thought I would say that) so I will have sometime to get used to the idea of having a third. I am praying Dan is cancer free by then and we can put this trial behind us.

My amazing husband was able finish his first semester in spite of being diagnosed with cancer. He did really well and I am so proud of him for staying on task and studying so hard during, this trying time. Way to go babe I am so proud of you.

Christmas 2010

We had Aebleskiebers for breakfast and they were amazing. It's a family tradition in both of our families. It was my first year making them. Everyone loved them. You drowned them in butter and then dip them in powdered sugar, be careful not to inhale the powdered sugar. I might make them again this week.

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. It was nice and relaxing. Dan got home from the hospital but still had his drain tubes in for a few more days. Dan's brother Chris came out for Christmas and we had the best time with him. John and Jolyn my inlaws came out on Christmas eve just in time to read the nativity story and help put out cookies for Santa. Maack got a DSI XL and he has been sitting there ever since. Sienna was in love with this flash light.

Dan's Lung Cancer

Here it is Dan's Lung CancerI never thought I would be posting about this but here it is, my husband's lung cancer it's the large mass on the left, his right lung. Needless to say it has been a really crapy month since we found out and Danny has been doing lots of tests to find out if this is the only place in his body that the cancer is and so far so good. It was a very hard decision to decide to go ahead with the procedure to remove his right lung but we feel at peace with our decision. The doctor said that whatever his lung capacity is now will just be cut in half, like if he gets winded running a mile it will be a half mile now. So much for P90X.

There have been many tears and a lot of anger but mostly from me. We are just baffled that he could even get lung cancer. For someone who doesn't smoke and doesn't work with harsh chemicals it's strange and every new doctor we see agrees that it is so odd. We have no idea how he got Lung cancer but here are some of my guesses; helping people remove black mold from their homes in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. Helping with dental assisting in Honduras and in Elsavador or serving a two year mission in Brazil. It's probably none of these things but I just thought it would be fun to list some of the amazing things my husband has done.

I'm living day to day and sometimes hour to hour. I feel like I have been taking this harder than Dan which I feel incredibly guilty about but I hope I can be there for him after my hard time, which I hope will end soon. We have been able to rotate actually it seems like when ever he's down I'm up and vice versa. It has not been easy being pregnant and having to deal with this I hope my baby doesn't come out with horns or spots or something like that.

People have a been really supportive but a ton of people just don't know what to say and have said some really lame things to us. We have both cut back from facebook. Even though it has been a crazy month it will be a learning and growing experience I just hope we can learn what it is that we need to learn from this experience. When we first moved here to Indiana I volunteered to go and help at girls camp, while I was there I asked if I could have a challenging calling from my bishop. I was then called to be the second councilor in the Primary. Little did I know when I asked t be spiritually challenged that in five months my husband would get diagnosed with lung cancer and in his first and hardest semester of dental school and that I would be pregnant. I believe that this has happened for a reason and at this time and that we are in this to learn and be challenged. Somedays it feels like to big of a challenge but, I believe that heavenly Father doesn't give us anything that we can't handle. I am praying that Dan makes it through his midterms and does well on them. It's been really hard for him to concentrate and I don't blame him. Surgery is scheduled for December 13th at 1:30 It's supposed to be a four hour surgery he will be in the hospital for five to ten days. He will make it hope just in time for Christmas, the timing is perfect. Please keep us in your prays. He will then do four rounds of chemo after that. Thank you for your friendship and support. Bus Rider

Maack rides the bus now and he loves it! He was so excited to be a big kid and ride the bus. He has waited so long for this special day. I remember living in Arizona and every time he would see a bus he would say "some day I'll be a bus rider". He has been bringing home art work with sentences at the bottom that say bus rider. I can't believe how big my little Maacky boy is getting, it's so weird.

I love this girl she is so much fun. I could stay home with her all day and play. I am seriously considering never sending her to school. This morning she came into my room and said oh cute clothes mom! My heart just skipped a beat. We have so much fun together and I totally get her she is just like me. Sienna dances whenever there is music playing even if it is just my cell phone ringing. I cried when the doctor said I was having a girl because I knew I was having a fun girl friend. I also cried because I know I wont be old enough when she is in high school. We love you Sienna thanks for all of the fun.

We went to Anderson orchard,we were only able to stay for a little bit because Maack has school so we didn't get as many pictures as we wanted. We had fun though looking at all of the produce and pumpkins. We will be going back on Saturday for family pictures and I am so excited!

I love this boy with all my heart. This is his rock n' roll picture he loves listening to Beastie boys and Led Zeppelin. he cracks me up.
These pictures were from this summer after Maack graduated preschool. He loved his class and teacher. It was a great experience. Dan took these pictures in our back yard in AZ. I don't miss that back yard at all now that I have a nice grassy one with a swing set but I do miss my friends and life there.
He tries very hard to please us and he is a very good big brother to Sienna.

Maack has a best friend named Linus, it's his red blanket that his mema made him and was giving to him in the hospital. Maack thinks Linus has a spirit and goes everywhere in our house together. He got a "trim" right after this and it didn't turn out so he ended up getting a buzz because I suck at cutting his hair. He was so sad he said "mom I don't look like Justin Beiber anymore". He cracks me up.
Maack Loves going to the zoo and petting the sharks. Sharks are his favorite animal.
Her is Maack at the children's museum maybe some day he will be a photographer for high fashion models. He took my picture while i strutted my stuff down the Barbie cat walk.
